Role of 'Independents' in Indian Elections

The Indian democracy is though youngest, but still considered as the most mature democracy. The country trapped by dogmatic customs, but still the youngest democracy of the world that gave voting rights to women since its formation. However, the manuwadi culture and dogmatic customs that has been followed in all sections and communities of our society since so many years has held its roots so deep that we are still reviving our social system and give women their deserved status. With adult suffrage at 18years of age, India has voting rights to all Indian citizens. With this power is said to directly vested in the hands of people of the nation, and they vote to send their representatives to the Parliament for looking after the governance of the Nation as a whole. Recently India had its General Elections in 9-phases from March to May’2014 to constitute 16 th Lower House of the country. The nation was longing for change, and this desire to overcome the corrupt & ineffective governance resulted into the higher turnout as well as clear majority to ‘Modi-led BJP government’. It was definite that BJP will overthrow congress at the centre, but the magnitude of success was absolutely thundering. Hats-off to Indian Democratic structure! There were so many contestants who fought for the first time, with a very little ground e
